Life is simple. I learned something on valentine's day from my Chase. It went something like this 'life is simple...' he had a wonderfully eloquent unplanned saying that I can't think of at the moment but it meant so much to me.
Why do we clutter our minds with the unnecessary things?
So basically he stopped me in my tracks by specifically calling me out in my perfectionism without even knowing it. (insert i like it when we can be brutally honest with each other and leave the conversation sharpened)
Life is simple.
I know there are hard times.
I live in them, too.
I work with them.
However, I rely on them to make that simple life... well honorable and pleasing to Him.
I lost one of my favourite people tonight. Sudden. Difficult. Incomprehensible.
She was amazing. Aunt Jenn, you are loved more than you ever realized on this earth. But now you are in heaven...no pain, tears or struggle....(so sad i won't get to read your personally sent blog replies to my inbox)
Life is so hard, yet leaning on the words that Jesus once said, 'I am the way and the truth and the Life.'
He is Life. I've made my life so much more complicated. earning a living, the wining and dining of life, trying to fit in to whatever circle you're trying to be a part of, proving something to someone ... These things are far from Life.
I learned something on Valentine's Day.
It's challenging to live the simple life when the pattern and natural tendency is to complicate it. Relax may be to some of you a dirty word; to others a word of freedom. To me, the simplicity to life begins with freedom. I was promised it long ago. You were too. Accept Him as Life.

ArT and CooKies
the cold weather and snow outside are starting to make me antsy for the warmer months. don't get me wrong, i definitely like snuggling with my beau, watching chick flicks with the girls, and art nights with alma and kate however...those sunny days when the weather is perfect to sit outside and read a book just won't get out of my head.
know what else won't get out of my head? heart art and cookies
sarah and bendrix have a lovely little shop on etsy... i found these pieces here. quite lovely in time for valentine's day.

My month long week
I respect nurses. Have about 4 of them in mind that are beyond amaZing at their jobs. Working 12+ hour days without complaining. "Hannah can you make me some coffee in your kitchen?" absolutely! You do your job- let me do mine by fueling you for the 3rd shift in a row that you've worked. With healthcare, work doesn't stop. With the elderly it really doesn't stop. I must admit i love what I do, but 3 12 hour days in a row are starting to make me feel like I need dementia or attention medicine. I know sleep will have to do for now, but it's a challenge. Thank you nurses for making me realize half the reason your jobs are hard, are the length of hours you guys and gals work in a row!! Wowza... The other half being the poop and throw up you have to clean up. :) I will continue my dietary roles for now and hope to learn from the patience you exhibit.
It's finally Friday. Hard to believe that there's snow on the ground and that I've used my ice scraper 3 days in a row now. But- it's fun. Challenging but fun.
Sunshine you're welcome to come out and melt the ice and snow.

Inspired by joy
Have you been to joythebaker.com yet? You should. You'll enjoy your visit...i might call it a 'stay' bc I bet you'll continue to read through her entries. Her food looks and tastes delicious! I've tried a couple things. Interestingly enough, she's quite funny too. Even better when reading thru her visually appealing food-making-tasting-picture taking- entries. Since I'm adding this from my phone I dont yet know how to add a link to her website, but check it out. :)
She inspired me tonight to write a few peeves about myself that I think have made me quite unique. These days more than before ...due to things I will not mention to the world wide web. They include people, experiences, my job and well ...just time in life. Go!
1. I call myself an early bird but really enjoy staying in bed until the very last minute.
2. I hate it when people are late, but I walk in ~5 min late at least 2/5 days a week ....and should I mention my commute is <5 minutes? Ha!
3. I love to honk when people drive badly.
4. I only yell when - a)people drive poorly, b)I'm super excited, c)I hear a fabulous song, d)or sometimes when i feel no one is listening (especially if they are other drivers in their closed cars, with blaring music, and children in the backseat) sorry :/
5. I don't like Facebook but still have my account open so that if for some reason I need my friends to 'like' me for the moment, I have immediate access. (btw...kidding)
6. I can sometimes be a total bum and not want to talk to anyone, but other times miss and crave the company of others.
7. I have a huge passion for both ends of the life cycle...early childhood and the oldies. They may compare in dependency but are completely different, and should be treated in their own stages.
8. I'd love to open my own restaurant someday but dread learning thru trials.
9. I enjoy exercise but have dramatically changed my pattern and
Methods lately simply bc I don't want to wear out my body.
10. I don't miss college life, but would go back to school next week just to learn more about the human body, how it works, and ways to sustain it when things go wrong.
11. People think I'm a clean freak, but I have small piles of dirty clothes in my room and bathroom every day. And I can't tell you the last time I actually dusted.
12. My christmas tree is still up. My guess is it will be until invite guests over that I want to impress. Haha I don't even want to mention my other forms of procrastination.
13. I love to cook but it always tastes better when it's not planned or over analyzed.
14. I despise the smell if smoke, sharpies and gasoline, but enjoy mens cologne, chocolate chip cookies and the smell of a campfire.
15. Ive lived thru 4 years of Spanish in school and still cannot speak it fluently.
16. Oh the list could go on, but it's time to go so I can sleep in, be late and work with the most interesting, inspiring residents.
What are your peeves about yourself?
PS my girls who cook and bake, go visit joy! :)

Firsts
First post via phone. Hope it works :)
First day I realized that I'm not working ruthlessly without reason.
First day I found joy in brokenness.
First night that I thanked Him for my brokenness...without self....
First time since I started Perspectives that I didn't procrastinate on my homework.
First afternoon I spent talking to a lady from England who thought it was weird that I picked up on her accent --when she hasn't lived there in years. "...way long before I was even born," she said. :)
First day I did some research on what natives from Zimbabwe eat. Totally falling for world food cultures....
First weeks I have baked in awhile,...oh how I've missed it.
Need petite cheesecakes or scones? Totally able to help you out :)
Im learning God loves firsts.
What's a first for you?

you are good
![]() |
| found via pinterest - originally from here |
your kindness leads me to repentance
your goodness draws me to your side
your mercy calls me to be like you
your favor is my delight
every day i'll awaken my praise
and pour out a song from my heart
you are good, you are good
you are good, and your mercy is forever
you are good, you are good
you are good, and your mercy is forever
your kindness is forever, your goodness is forever
your mercy is forever, forever
you all know how to search things...google the song if you haven't heard it. i pray the Lord touches your heart when you listen to it. the amazing thing that speaks to me today is...the line about pouring out a song from my heart. no matter the song. tears of repentance, laughter from thanksgiving, ...all of the ways we pour out in song are accepted by Him. happy monday.

fresh air
it may be time for you to take a break in your day, rest, relax, or just think about something other than work & "how do i get this lady to eat less, so she'll lose weight?" (haha...oh wait, maybe that's just my job). here's a glimpse of what i've been viewing lately. maybe some of it will inspire you. :) happy thursday.

monday = thinking day
i've called it. monday. it's my thinking day. just like standing on the brink of a new endeavor. my mondays seem to always make me think. laundry's done. apartment's clean. now how can i really be productive? this topic seems to align with the many resolutions that my friends and family are and aren't making this year. for me, i've never made them because i've never been truly passionate about my options, but as i get older and seem to appreciate more life lessons.
here are a few from my closest:
chase-to get a hobby: tutoring, teaching, giving things away (we've discouraged the game playing for money and expensive hobbies like golf and hunting)
sarah-haven't talked to her yet...my hope is to spend more time with me! :) love you, sar bear!
mom-a new talent/skill (mom's probably the only person i know to ever complete her resolutions....cooking school, weight loss, saving for vacation, remodeling the kitchen....what a record!)
dad- ?? finally clean out the garage?? (trust me, it'll take him the whole year- he's my mom's perfect match)
ana-perfect her gym routine, including squats with a bar (haha)
fern-get through and pass police academy with flying colors so he can wear one of those cool blue uniforms and carry a gun, visibly. lol
kate-her art; may it continue to grow and reflect Christ
lola, wendy, rach, maddie, morgan, and alma...haven't talked to these special ladies yet...but i know that they are all planning for a wonderful 2011.
